The Backblaze logo with a pattern of question marks behind it.

Is Backblaze still the best cloud backup?

*** Please note: This meeting will be both in-person and online. ***

Backblaze recently announced that they would be increasing their pricing (again) next month. Long considered the gold standard for online backup and the go-to option for pretty much anyone for a set it and forget it backup solution. But is the growing cost still worth it?

Several circles with iOS/macOS icons like Photos, Numbers, Messages, and Calendar. A Memoji of a man and woman.

iCloud Features and Alternatives

*** Please note: This meeting will be both in-person and online. ***

iCloud is built into every Apple device. It keeps your photos, videos, notes, and more safe, automatically backed up, and available anywhere you go. With iCloud+, you get even more storage along with enhanced privacy features that protect you and your data.

However, there are many lesser known and even advanced features that you may not be using or know about. We will review some of these features that are available to you.

But maybe you’ve tried iCloud and you’ve found Apple’s offerings lacking in certain areas and have decided to look elsewhere for something more powerful or flexible to fit you better.

Let’s discuss some alternatives that you can either pair with iCloud or completely replace it.

The Fediverse logo showing 5 dots colored red, purple, blue, green and yellow forming a pentagon. Each dot is connected to one another via lines that are colored with the mixture of the two dot colors. For example the yellow dot is connected via a green line to the blue dot.

Fediverse: What is it and how can I use it?

*** Please note: This meeting will be both in-person and online. ***

You may have heard of the Fediverse or the Mastodon social network in the last few months. Or more recently Threads or Bluesky.

Is Twitter and Reddit dead? What is the Fediverse and how can I use it?

Join us for an introduction to the Fediverse and see if it makes sense to stop using Twitter, Reddit, Instagram among many others and to start exploring the open and decentralized Internet.
