Widgets and the App Library

*** Please note: This meeting will be both in-person and online. ***

Widgets offer timely information from your favorite apps at a glance. You can use widgets on your Home Screen or in the macOS Notification Center to keep your favorite information at your fingertips. Now with the upcoming iOS 16, you can even add widgets to your Lock Screen!

The App Library shows your apps organized into categories, such as Creativity, Social, and Entertainment. The apps you use most are near the top of the screen and at the top level of their categories, so you can easily locate and open them.

We will discuss the basics of these powerful features that are built right into your devices and some interesting apps that take advantage of them.

Smart Thermostats and Sensors

One of the major cornerstones of any smart home should be the smart thermostat. Being able to adjust the temperature of your home while sitting on the sofa or even on the other side of the World is indeed very nice. But you can go further by automating with schedules, presence or by reading from sensors placed throughout the house.

Lets discuss smart thermostats and specifically what is available for HomeKit. We will also look at all the different types of data we can collect from sensors.
